Portraits
Here I will give you a before and after of some of the things I've been doing lately plus a brief description. Click on pictures for more information about each person if available.
Self Portrait
I wanted to change up a few things when it came to this picture and add a little more color to it. I didn't really want the plaid shirt to make its way into the portrait so i went with a solid color. Buttoned up too for a more presentable me :). It may not look it but that little smirking Indian on my hat was a hassle but turned out to be the star of this one.
Lola
Loved doing this one. The colors gave a lot to the pop art theme i was shooting for. It was quite a challenge bringing the cell shaded style forward and the headphones put the life right into it. Lola, an up coming DJ in Manchester UK and dear friend of mine, was very excited to see herself in this colorful piece and with her talents i am sure she'll have many more works of art to be excited about in the future.
Scope Vision
Color color color! That's the first thing that comes to mind when i see this one. The contrast from the background and the clothes were entertaining to my eyes. I wanted to be precise as usual but i think making the features a bit bolder such as the Tar Heel symbol worked well. I really had fun with the folds in the jacket and kept the inking a bit thicker to give it a cooler look as apposed to going super realistic. Rashaun Wilson, owner of Scope Vision upholstery in Eden, N.C., gave this a 4 thumbs up, welcomes the art to his page, and hopefully even his walls at home.
Charis
If its one person that loves to smile its this lady. Charis Brown Malloy, youtube vloger and spiritual guide, gives off such positive energy it made this portrait well worth the effort. The hair and jewelry were obstacles that at first I was intimidated with but once i jumped in and grabbed my headphones with one of Lola's mixes bumping I flowed through it better than expected. I altered the amethyst necklace and bracelet to give it more contrast and take pride in how smooth her skin turned out. Didn't think I could be so happy with a kneecap :).
Uncle John
Hoping to give my family a glimpse into the past, I give my late uncle John a new stylish look with a heavenly glow to complement his charming character. It was definitely a task bringing forth a high definition version of an 80's photograph but my uncle Sam, who requested the portrait, and the rest of the family was very satisfied with the end result. I'm sure hes smiling down upon us as we take a gander in remembrance of such a light hearted fella.
